Joseph Barbiero

Born 1901 in italy. Died 1992 in Puy-de-Dome - France

Mason of Italian origin, Joseph Barbiero lived in Auvergne. He participated in the restoration of Notre-Dame-de-Port and the Cathedral of Clermont-Ferrand. He devoted the last twenty-five years of his life to carving works in volcanic stone, not unrelated to the Celtic sources before the Roman colonization. He also made small drawings in pencil. For the latter, Barbiero used pieces of recovered biscuit packets and represented, often on both sides, human figures or animals.
