Alissa Bledsoe (b. 1985) states that making art gives her "no stress at all." She credits the encouragement of an uncle, and city life in general, as her sources of inspiration. Her practice, like the frenetic urban environment, angles in many directions: fabric, needlepoint, assemblage, collage, drawing, and painting.
Bledsoe is an impeccable colorist. Whether working abstractly or figuratively, her palette is always vibrant, balanced, and meticulous. A collage by Bledsoe seamlessly merges the found pieces with the painted surfaces around them into beautiful, complex structures.
